A flood watch was in effect Monday for Orlando and much of Central Florida, with more rain forecast through the day. The watch covers Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties and is set to run until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service also kept a flood warning in place for the St. Johns River near Astor, where minor flooding is already occurring. The agency said moderate flooding is possible there.

Monday night should bring a quick end to the rain and storms. Patchy fog is expected to develop overnight, with lows falling into the 60s. Additional rainfall is not expected to match the weekend's totals, though some areas could still pick up as much as 2 inches.

Sunday's storms hit Brevard and Lake counties hardest, with several inches falling across both and more than a foot in some locations. In Brevard County, the National Weather Service recorded 15.57 inches at Port Saint John, 14.67 inches in Titusville and 14.42 inches at Port Canaveral. Titusville Airport reported 13.08 inches and Merritt Island 11 inches. Cocoa received 8.25 inches, Rockledge 6.67 inches, Kennedy Space Center 4.94 inches and Mima 3.95 inches.

Lake County saw the highest totals in the report. Eustis recorded 19.70 inches and Mount Dora 17.86 inches, followed by Mount Plymouth at 10.40 inches, Paisley at 7.27 inches and Tavares at 6.10 inches. Leesburg measured 5.37 inches, Altoona 4.44 inches, Astatula 3.99 inches and Lady Lake 3.72 inches.

Totals were lower farther south and west. In Orange County, Windermere had 5.30 inches, Ocoee 4.11 inches and Oakland 3.81 inches, while Orlando recorded 3.24 inches. In Seminole County, Lake Mary measured 4.50 inches and Sanford 4.19 inches. Volusia County's DeLand received 7.30 inches, De Leon Springs 5.64 inches and DeBary 4 inches. Vero Beach in Indian River County recorded 3.83 inches.

Tuesday is forecast to start with plenty of clouds before giving way to sunshine in the afternoon and evening. Wednesday should be sunny until evening, when a front approaches around or after sunset and could bring a few light sprinkles.

A strong cold front is then expected to move through Florida late Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing a significant drop in humidity and temperature. Forecasters say that will set up a cool Halloween weekend in Orlando, with overnight lows in the 40s in some areas and afternoon highs in the 60s and 70s. The weekend is expected to be dry and sunny.

The forecast information comes from the FOX 35 Storm Team and the National Weather Service.
